The automated mosquito misting system, at its simplest form, is a device that is designed to pump an insecticide solution through a nozzle circuit. This nozzle circuit consists of several nozzles connected together via tubing and is typically placed 3 meters apart from each other throughout the premises. The insecticide solution will exit the nozzles in the form of a fine mist which will float around the premises, killing any mosquitoes that comes into contact with.
With careful planning and installation of the nozzle circuit, mosquito misting systems are extremely effective in terms of mosquito control. Generally, in our installation recommendations, we will plan the nozzle circuit to mist into areas where conventional misting/fogging should be done, meaning that automated misting should be similar to manual fogging/misting. Difference is that automated misting is scheduled to be done more consistently and frequently than typical manual fogging/misting contracts.
The biggest problem with manual fogging/misting is due to low fogging/misting frequency as a result of costs. Mosquitoes are eliminated from an area on the day of the fog/mist, but nothing prevents mosquitoes from reentering. This means that mosquitoes will start reappearing as early as the next day and becoming a problem again until the next fogging/misting schedule. The automated mosquito misting system solves this issue by reducing the downtime between fogging/misting to about 12 hours, ensuring constant protection.
Because very little maintenance is involved, most of the costs comes from the insecticide, meaning that for running costs, having a system misting twice a day will typically be lower than contracting pest control to mist/fog once a week.
Another major benefit of having an automated system is the flexibility in choosing the timing of the mists. Most mosquitoes are active from dusk to dawn. Misting at around 7pm and 7am means that you will be misting when more mosquitoes are flying around. This is also the same time when beneficial insects such as butterflies and bees are least active.
The mosquito misting system is suitable for any property with a space large enough for fogging/misting to be effective. For residential properties, this can apply to corner terraces, semi-detached houses, bungalows/detached houses, town houses, and condos. For commercial properties, this can apply to F&B with outdoor dining, school compounds, nursing homes, childcare centers, chalets, and clubs/compounds with outdoor facilities (driving ranges, tennis courts, practice green, gardens, function hall etc.). For industrial properties, this can apply to factories with outdoor workspaces and storage lots and low-ceiling indoor warehouses.
The misting system allows us to be flexible with our schedule to maximise insecticide exposure to mosquitoes while avoiding insecticide exposure to non-intended targets. Â Dawns are generally a non-issue due to little human activity occurring during this period. Â For the sprays during dusk, the short 2 minute-mists may not be an issue for private home users as they can easily fit the misting system around their schedule, but may pose a challenge for public areas where the management may have little control over who uses the outdoor facilities.
This is why we have sourced for the safest affordable insecticide to be used with the misting system. The insecticide used contains public health grade Permethrin, which is the safest in its class of synthetic pyrethroids for mammals.
Permethrin is found in many household products intended for close proximity insect control such as scabies creams, lice shampoos, and treated insect nets and clothing.

This insecticide as a concentrate is not classified as a hazardous substance according to our reported toxicity level. Furthermore, the categorising of the safety of chemicals are reported in accordance with the UN Global Harmonized System Guidelines set out in Geneva. These standards are also adopted in Singapore amongst the chemical industry. The data had been evaluated by NEA with no cause for concern.

Short answer: As long as you use our ULV foggers/misters, use our organic insecticides and carry out basic protection measures, you do not need a vector control license.
Long Answer:
Depends. Currently there are two main methods of spraying that are effective for mosquito control, ultra-low-volume fogging (also known as ULV fogging or misting) and thermal fogging.
Thermal fogging is easily identified by the thick white smoke that comes out of a fogger, whereas misting is identified by the mist that comes out of a fogger. Thermal foggers use petrol to power up heaters that heat up a mixture of insecticide and diesel before blowing the mixture out. This makes thermal foggers a fire hazard due to the components being heated and flammable/combustible liquids (diesel and petrol) being used. That, along with the loud noises created by the motor and the potential traffic hazard from the view-obstructing fog means that a vector control license is required for thermal fogging.
ULV foggers/misters, uses a special nozzle that compresses an insecticide solution into a mist while spraying. Electric motors are typically used to power these nozzles. This means that ULV foggers/misters are much quieter and do not pose a fire hazard. Mists dispersed are too small to be visible making it much safer to be used near traffic. The safeness in usage means that a vector control license is not required and can even be used indoors.
For insecticides, NEA regulations require all insecticides that target any of the five vectors (mosquitoes, cockroaches, fleas, flies, and rodents) to be registered and given a registration label that will allow it for use by either the general public or by licensed vector control operators only. The insecticide that we are selling, EcoLogix IC (formerly known as EcoExempt IC3), do not contain any chemical pesticide active ingredients and do not require any registration from NEA. Hence, the EcoLogix IC may be used without a vector control license.
Most foggers should have two knobs/dials. One controls blower speed, the other controls the valve to the insecticide. Generally, you will want to set your blower speed to the maximum to increase the reach of your mists. As for the insecticide valve, unless you have the more powerful Pioneer Electrical Fogger, you will want to completely open the valve to allow more insecticide to be misted out. The Pioneer will require you to slightly close the valve so that you do not over mist your insecticide. We will provide a quick course on misting upon delivery of the fogger and its accessories.

For outdoors – Mist upwards so that the mist can slowly float and settle on the landscaping. Aim at plants and dark areas such as cracks, holes, underneath the furniture where mosquitoes will most likely rest from the sun. Mist at least 2-3 times a week.
For indoors – Ensure that no one except you is in the house and close all windows. Start with a room and mist upwards so that the mist can slowly float. Aim at the darker areas such as under furniture as well as the curtains. Close the door and continue with each room until all rooms are done. Mist the rest of the house (hallways, living room, etc.). Once done, exit the house for at least 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, you may open all windows and doors to ventilate the house. Indoor misting is not as necessary as outdoor misting and can be done less frequently at once a month. Generally, if you can solve your outdoor problem, you will have no problems with indoors.
Most organic insecticides are oil-based which has a tendency to clog up the nozzles when dried. To prevent this from happening, always make sure that you empty the insecticide from the fogger into the provided container after misting. Fill the fogger with plain water and turn it on for about a minute to flush the nozzle. Empty out the water after flushing.
Misting (and thermal fogging) only kills adult mosquitoes and have a weakened effect against larva stages of mosquitoes.
An Integrated Pest Control (IPC) approach is recommended. This means that proper housekeeping must be done additionally to ensure that no breeding takes place at your premises. This means making sure that you remove anything that has a tendency to collect water. For those that are unavoidable (ie. drains), larvicide can be used. These can be found in nurseries and are generally safe to use. Mosquito traps can also be added as part of the IPC approach.

Our traps use a combination of known attractants to lure mosquitoes to the traps. Once inside the trap, a fan will suck the mosquitoes into the trap and where they will eventually dehydrate (dry trap).
Like many other insect traps, our mosquito traps come with UV tubes that attract positively phototactic insects (insects that are attracted to light such as mosquitoes, flies, and moths). Unlike other insect traps, our main feature is the use of attractant cartridges which contain a combination of lactic acid and octenol.
Lactic acid is produced in our muscles and octenol can be found in our breath. These are two of the more prominent chemicals produced in our human bodies that makes us attractive to mosquitoes. In our dry traps, lactic acid and octenol are in powder form and are slowly dispersed into the air by wind created by the fan.

Our traps use lactic acid and octenol to attract the mosquitos. The MosTrap model covers up to 700 square feet, making it ideal for larger areas such as dining rooms and living rooms. On the other hand, the M1 trap is more compact, covering up to 200 square feet, which is perfect for smaller spaces like bedrooms. Both models provide targeted protection, ensuring that each area of your home is treated effectively.
For the indoor traps, the more accurate way of monitoring caught mosquitoes is to take a white piece of paper and banging the catch tray upside down on the piece of paper. Newly caught mosquitoes will be intact and quite obvious. Day old mosquitoes will be shriveled and shrunk. While they may look like tiny flies, most of them should in fact be mosquitoes. The constant vortex from the wind and eventual deterioration of mosquitoes will cause them to lose their limbs which is why they may be commonly misperceived as flies. The reason why you should bang the tray is that most insects will be stuck on the grill of the mosquito trap due to force of the wind pushing them against the grills. It is harder to get an accurate count of trapped mosquitoes simply by looking at the catch box, especially if the catch box is black.
